Mapping & Surveillance

Beyond Essential Mapping and Surveillance provides specialist support for enhanced intelligence gathering and informed decision making in the health, environment and disaster response sectors through the utilization of digital mobile data collection, reporting and mapping technologies. We focus on identifying, building and sustaining optimal decision support system tools and approaches to address the specific operational challenges and needs of our partners.

Our Approach

Our team’s philosophy is “information for effective action”. We are dedicated to developing, strengthening and supporting the operational capacity of our partners through technology, innovation, collaboration and ongoing support. Our approach focuses on working closely with partners to identify needs, gaps and opportunities within their organization. We work closely with our partners to develop innovative solutions, tools and approaches specifically suited to the localized settings of the operating environment; develop standardized approaches to implementation; and conduct training, oversee field activities and provide ongoing mentorship and support to establish, strengthen and sustain operational capacity. Our teams are not limited to specific sets of tools, approaches, hardware or software. We specialize in identifying and applying locally appropriate methodologies as to ensure optimal impact. We provide support for developing and implementing mapping and surveillance strategies to strengthen both routine program operations and rapid response.

THE DEVELOPMENT OF CUSTOMIZED MAP-BASED SURVEILLANCE AND INTEGRATED SPATIAL DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEMS (SDSS) TO SUPPORT:

  • Automated disease mapping using routinely reported health system data;
  • High-resolution surveillance, rapid reporting, outbreak detection and targeted response;
  • Integrated automated geo-spatial analysis to support response intervention targeting, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
